Homosexual, the New Testament makes very few mentions of homosexuality, which is defined as having a sexual orientation toward others who are also of the same sex. References are only to be found in works attributed to Paul. Wherever we seek, we either come up empty-handed or have to settle with conjecture.

Paul’s Letter to the Romans contains the only explicit mention of same-sex relationships and orientation. Paul is writing to make sure that when he visits Rome, the Christians there will embrace him and his message and won’t be turned off by his detractors.
Paul begins as he always does with a point of agreement: the faith they both affirm (Romans 1:3-5) and the sin they both denounce (Romans 1:18-32). He could have chosen to focus on other faults, but he chose to use same-sex relationships as his illustration (Romans 1:24-28).

How did Paul perceive homosexuality and how did he perceive homosexual behavior?

In Paul’s time, it was abnormal and dishonorable for a man to play a passive (feminine) position or for a woman to play an active (male) role. Philo of Alexandria, a Jewish philosopher who lived during Paul’s lifetime, agreed with Plato that same-sex partnerships were unnatural since they squandered semen and would result in a population decline in cities. Paul also includes “male-bedders” and “softies” in a list of persons who are not welcome in the kingdom, likely referring to active and passive male partners (1Corinthians 6:9-10; see also 1Timothy 1:10). Following “man-bedders,” the list in 1 Timothy 1:10 also includes “kidnappers” or “slave merchants,” which may allude to the prostitution of male slaves.
Are all persons heterosexual as Paul erroneously believed? What conclusions we get about our world will depend on how we respond to that inquiry.
Where churches and cultures have come to the realization that not everyone is heterosexual, many have taken action to eliminate any types of prejudice against such persons that would, for example, prevent them from being married or holding positions of leadership.
Others, who acknowledge that not everyone is straight, continue to criticize behavior and advise gay individuals to live celibate lives.

Paul discusses substituting unnatural relationships with people of the same gender for natural ones between men and women in Romans. Men who engage in homosexual behavior are identified as one of the vices in 1 Corinthians 6 and 1 Timothy 1, a list of sins. Therefore, it is obvious that the focus is on the actively chosen behavior of homosexual intimacy.

In what ways does that indicate orientation? Well, if it reaches the point of lust, it would clearly imply that having a sexual desire for someone of the same gender is sinful (just like lust for somebody of the opposite sex would be sin as Jesus says in Matthew 5). We could even go a step farther and claim that the attraction itself is disordered, which would suggest that it is not how God originally intended for things to be.

Well, tackling a problem like homosexuality is a good approach to make that right. I’m probably going to say something that will upset someone.

Nobody really understands why some people get attracted to other people of the same sex sexually. While some theories claim that there are biological or genetic origins, others contend that gay inclination is a developmental trait that develops as a result of early life experiences.
Being drawn to someone of the same sex is not sinful in either case. Since it isn’t a choice, it cannot be a sin. Sin is an action one chooses to take.
An attraction, whether it be to the same sex or the other sex, occurs unintentionally and is not something that is chosen.
However, engaging in sexual activity with another person of the same sex is something that the Church stands against. This opposition is motivated by love and care for the people concerned, not by condemnation.
On various levels, homosexual behavior is harmful to people who engage in it. It is plainly physically hazardous. In the past 15 years, AIDS has claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of homosexual males.
Contrary to heterosexual behavior, homosexual behavior renders the condom even less effective. Additionally, homosexual behavior can result in additional illnesses.
Spiritually, homosexual behavior is likewise risky. God intended for sexual activity to take place in the context of marriage, where a man and a woman dedicate themselves to one another and start a family.
It is sinful to use the sexual organ in any other way. A person is estranged from God by sins of all kinds, including homosexual behavior. choosing our own way rather than God’s way. Since morality is God’s rulebook, breaking it hurts us and damages our relationship with Him.
In some ways, those who identify as homosexuals are just like the rest of us. We are all predisposed to be drawn to wicked pursuits in one way or another because of original sin.
This desire may lead some individuals to abuse drugs or alcohol. Others can attribute it to the misuse of the gift of sexuality by heterosexuals.

Like everyone else, someone with a gay orientation must resist temptation.
Like the rest of us, those who identify as homosexual are required to live chaste lives. Many thousands of men and women in the Church are working toward that goal despite having a homosexual orientation.
Even an organization by the name of Courage is devoted to assisting these men and women as they develop their chastity and sanctity.
Conclusion
Be aware that some of my closest friends and some of the people I love most in the world are gay, should emails accusing me of homophobia or inciting hatred begin to arrive.
I wish they were not leading that lifestyle because I adore them. God judges people’s souls, not me. However, I do give a lot of thought to both their bodily and spiritual well-being.
