Escaping Generational Curses And Covenant
Hexes and curses sound rather antiquated in today’s world of smartphones and smart TVs. The realm of technology appears to operate as the polar opposite of other non-scientific paradigms. That goes for faith, hexes, and curses.
The Bible does, however, include proof that curses exist and that generational curses continue to this day. Even so, the curses described in the Bible differ from how they are typically understood today.
While walking in front of him, the Lord proclaimed: “The Lord is a loving and gracious God, slow to wrath and abounding in true love and truth, preserving faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, disobedience, and transgression.” But he won’t let the guilty go unpunished, carrying the fallout from the fathers’ sins to the third and fourth generations of children and grandchildren. Exodus 34:4-6
The definition of a curse in the Bible differs from the plot of horror movies like Hereditary, where a curse is either intentionally or unintentionally placed on another person. However, this passage demonstrates that a person’s behavior did have an impact on their progeny. God, not the individual, was the one who cast the curse.
What exactly is a generational curse, then? We can infer that the curse served as atonement for sin. Therefore, a generational curse is a form of retribution for sin that is passed down down the generations.
However, how God dealt with sin in the Old Testament was different from how He dealt with it in the New Testament. God used to treat humans as a community rather than just as individuals before Jesus came around.
With the love and mercy that Jesus brought, punishment (if meted out) took place on a more personal level (John 9:1-3).
Does this imply that there are no more generational curses?
Bernard provides a scriptural explanation of why it can be difficult for people to change and become more like Jesus. In addition to listing his motivations, which include sloth, fear, and pride, Bernard also suggests that sin is passed down from one person to the next.

“Therefore, just as one sin results in condemnation for all, so likewise one righteous deed results in justification bringing about life for all.” in Romans 5:18
We may better grasp how our sin generates conditions for the people in our lives and how their sin produces conditions for us by looking at generational curses from a biblical perspective.
In the Ten Commandments, God declares that He punishes children for the transgressions of their fathers:
“You shall not carve for yourself a likeness of anything that is in heaven above, in the earth beneath, or in the water beneath the ground; you shall not worship them, nor shall you be their servant.”
Because I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, I will punish the children of those who hate Me through the third and fourth generations, but I will show mercy to thousands of those who do. (Exodus 20:4-6).
This phrase is used once more in Isaiah 65:6-7, Deuteronomy 5:8-10, and Exodus 34:5-7. The same idea is supported by Jeremiah, who says, “Our fathers sinned and are no more, but we suffer their iniquities.” in Lamentations 5:7
The Old Testament God who made this tenet clear was Jesus. In the New Testament, Jesus further affirms this by addressing the Pharisees and saying:
“You are bearing witness against yourselves that you are the offspring of the prophets’ killers. Fill the space left by your dads’ guilt, then. Snakes, serpent brood! How do you avoid being judged by hell?
In order to bring upon you all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of the righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city.
I assure you that all of these things will affect this generation. Matthew 23:29 and 36.
How Can I Tell If a Generational Curse Is at Work?
Nowadays, it is accepted wisdom with a scientific foundation that people who grew up in particular environments will probably reproduce those environments in their own homes in the future. For instance, children raised in abusive homes are more likely to grow up to be abusive. People who have alcoholic parents are more inclined to abuse alcohol themselves. The same reasoning holds true for other sins such as avarice or sexual immorality.
Another thing to think about is if the word “curse” is the right one. Parents and ancestors have an impact on our lives, whether they are referred to as environmental or genetic factors. In turn, people are impacted by us. It is just a matter of semantics whether to refer to the idea as a curse or not, but for the purposes of this essay, we will do so.
Finding the source is the key to spotting a generational curse. Parents who act in a specific way may have seen their own parents act in that way. Without knowledge, the loop is probably going to keep going.

You have not succumbed to any temptation that is not common to man. God is loyal and will not allow you to be tested beyond your capacity, but in addition to the temptation, he will also make a route of escape available to you so that you can resist it. (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Prayer
So that you can receive healing, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another. A righteous person’s prayer has a very strong impact. (James 5:16)
God wants to talk to us and help us through all of life’s difficulties. God is always ready and available to support us through our difficulties, especially our generational issues, even if He permits suffering for our reproof. The Bible demonstrates that prayer is effective and essential to leading a Christian life.
Counseling
When utilized carefully, words can promote healing (James 5:16). People have benefited from therapy throughout history and across the board. Counseling is being used by individuals, couples, and even families.
Getting Your Family’s Freedom from Generational Curses And Covenant
Don’t conform to this age; but, let the renewing of your mind transform you so that you can recognize God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will. (Romans 12:2).
Change is possible if you start to see how deeply sin has gripped your life and the lives of many of your loved ones. However, before it affects other people, transformation starts at the individual level. Such a concept is illustrated in this poem.
God wants to regenerate our minds and pursues our hearts. By improving ourselves, we contribute to God’s expansion of His influence in our lives and in the lives of everyone else. It is possible to change a generational sin into a generational blessing (Proverbs 27:17). And we, as individuals, are where the transformation starts.
A Family Decision
David sinned by having an affair with Bathsheba and murdering Uriah, her husband; nonetheless, it was his son who perished.
David’s children suffered the consequences of God’s judgment that the sword would not end at David’s home. In retaliation for raping Tamar, another son of his, Absalom killed Amnon.
When Absalom attempted to overthrow David, his father, Joab killed him. Solomon, his son, also murdered Adonijah, his elder brother.
Absalom, who raped David’s concubines “publicly” to show that he would never be reconciled to his father, carried out God’s second judgment that David’s wives would be mistreated in front of all Israel.
No cancellation
Another statement made by God in the Old Testament that appears to cause confusion is this:
“A person shall be put to death for his own fault; fathers shall not be put to death for their children, and children shall not be put to death for their fathers.” ( Deuteronomy 24:16).
The phrase “the fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are on edge” will no longer be used in those days, according to Jeremiah: “In those days they shall not say any more.” But everyone will perish for their own sin; those who partake of sour grapes will have their teeth on edge. (Jeremiah 31:29–30).
A closer look reveals that there is no contradiction, though. It should not be implied that one text invalidates another. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will in no way fade away,” Jesus reminds us in Matthew 24:35.
In actuality, these verses speak of various verdicts. Making the distinction between personal judgements, generational judgments, and national judgments is crucial in order to understand precisely what each one relates to.
It is also important to remember that the innocent frequently have to endure the wrongdoing of the wicked, and that the adage “like father, like son” is genuinely ingrained in the world.
Magnitude Of Sin
Sin is never something to take for granted. Every sin has repercussions for those who are innocent in addition to the sinner. On the road, a drunk driver kills innocent bystanders. In the bank, a robber with a gun kills an innocent person. This occurs frequently.
It is also clear that children frequently exhibit the characteristics, features, and personalities of their parents. Therefore, both the father and the son have a nasty temper. Both the son and the father are womenizers. Both the boy and the father are drug addicts.
Diseases can also be passed down through generations. It’s common for high blood pressure to run in families. Likewise, cancer. If the father possesses the feature, it is likely that the son will as well.
Abraham’s home was obviously inhabited by a lying spirit. He misrepresented Sarah as his sister to Pharaoh. This legacy of lying was carried on by Isaac, his son. Additionally, he misrepresented Rebecca as his sister to the Gerar soldiers. Jacob, Isaac’s son, later deceived his father by claiming to be Esau. Later, Jacob’s sons continued to deceive him about Joseph, whom they had sold into slavery.
The Davidic household was clearly rife with sexual vice. David had an extramarital affair with Bathsheba. His daughter Tamar was violated by his son Amnon. Absalom, another son, committed concubine rape. Solomon, a further son, developed an obsession with women. He had 300 concubines in addition to his 700 spouses.
It is essential for the believer to separate himself from his natural genealogy and ancestry for this and other reasons. “Do not call anyone on earth your father; because One is your Father, He who is in heaven,” Jesus instructs as a result (Matthew 23:9).
Ancestral Sins
If you don’t confront what your ancestors did, it might negatively effect you. So be careful not to act recklessly and cause issues for your kids. Worship of idols is the worst of this.
Don’t let a problem, challenge, or blood issue lead you to the Babalawo. You are causing a problem that will continue for four generations by acting in this way.

Although Gehazi committed the offense by asking Naaman for a gift under false pretenses, Gehazi and his descendants were also held accountable. “The disease of Naaman shall cling to you and your ancestors forever,” Elisha warned him (2 Kings 5:27).
Both the house of Ahab and the house of Jeroboam experienced the same thing (1 Kings 14:1–13). (1 Kings 21:20-29).
In the same way, a house is given salvation. In the Flood, God opted to wipe out the whole human race. But there was found grace in the Lord. Genesis 6:8 However, Noah’s family also benefited from the grace he encountered.
Paul and Silas were asked by the jailer what he needed to do to be saved. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your home,” they commanded him. (Acts 16:31).
Covenant
Blood covenants fall under another category of terrible covenants. Some people unknowingly got into a blood covenant. Most people cut themselves and licked the blood while they were in a relationship. Blood covenant is one covenant that is challenging to breach.
The methods people form bad covenants are listed below. by means of demonic dreams. Unknowingly, some people enter through eating in dreams, having sex in dreams, and being brought to rivers, among other things. Any of these dreams will result in the same outcome if you do nothing to change them.
Once more, people engage in immoral covenants through extramarital sex. Demons are transferred whenever someone engages in unlawful sex or adultery, and a soul tie—a covenant—is created.
If that was your first sexual encounter, the situation becomes even worse. Incision can also be used to enter an evil covenant. A demon is immediately let loose to oversee a covenant made with blood.
Another way that people participate into an evil covenant is through occultism, which includes groups like the Ogboni Confraternity, Sea Dogs, age-group cults, and masquerade cults, among others.
A bad covenant might be created in your life if you have a name that is evil and associated with an idol or deity. Again, your image might be used to covenant you. Your image could end up in the hands of someone who would use it to make a bad pact with you.
Another way to enter a covenant is by wicked associations. If you have a friend who practices witchcraft, occultism, or is a marine agent, you may unwittingly become initiated at some point because to the friendship.
It can also happen through spiritual bathing, in which case the person is taken to a river for a bath or is given a sponge and soap to take a bath in a river before discarding the sponge.
By doing this, an evil covenant has already been made and the person’s destiny has been altered. It is possible to inherit a wicked covenant. There is a likelihood that you will also be a part of any covenant that your parents made.
The manifestations of an evil covenant include the following: When you feel an evil presence around you or a shadow, bird, lizard, or other creature is following you, for example, it is an indication that an evil covenant is active in your life.
Additionally, experiencing constant debt and financial failure may indicate that you are under the influence of a covenant or poverty-related curse. Again, a maritime covenant with a spirit spouse may be the cause of a delay in getting married or having children.
Dreams of playing with snakes, untimely deaths, and recurring tragedies, including accidents and illnesses, are also a component of it.
All of these manifestations of the evil covenant, such as divorce and remarriage or marital instability in a family, uncontrollable rage or a persistently unforgiving attitude, drug or pornographic addiction, the hearing of strange voices because the demons have been allowed to constantly approach you, are manifestations of the evil covenant.
You must turn from all known and unknowable sins if you want to shatter the wicked covenant. Additionally, do out some spiritual research to determine the origin of the covenant, its terms, the time it was created, and its intended application.
Reverse all harmful covenants—conscious and unconscious—then bind the strongman in command of each covenant and pray vehemently. Replace the bad covenant with Abrahamic covenants once you have finished praying.
